The Osney Arms Guest House

We found the location convenient for a one-night Oxford visit, around a 15-minute walk from most university buildings and the main sights. The room was spacious enough, things inside worked smoothly, and breakfast was sufficient with enough choice. The cleaning could have been better. There was a slightly musty smell, fogged-up windows, cobwebs and some mold in a few spots. The bigger frustration was parking. The online listing said there were spaces, but both visible spots in the backyard were occupied when we arrived, and it wasn't clear where guests should park. We were later told we could leave the car in front of the house, but that meant going over the curb onto the sidewalk, which felt odd to us as non-locals. We used a Park and Ride instead. It was okay for one night, though the place really needs a proper deep clean.

This guest house is handy for the train station and bus lines, and many sights, pubs, restaurants and museums are within walking distance. Breakfast is self-serve, with a fantastic selection. Check-in and checkout were easy, and the service was friendly. The rooms are nice, though they could use a little more dusting. The bathrooms were clean. I highly recommend it.

I arranged for friends and family to stay at Osney Arms. It's close to the station, and the rooms were cosy and clean. The house looked a bit dingy in the pictures, but it seems well maintained. Biplab, the owner, was really friendly and accommodating with our guests.

I walked in and knew I couldn't stay. The place smelled like a charity shop, there was no heating on what felt like the coldest day of the year, and the room was dirty and grimy, with damp patches on the walls. It didn't look like the pictures on Booking.com. There was a dead plant, what looked like dangerous wiring, toothpaste from a previous tenant in the shower, a half-full dirty soap bottle and coffee stains on the wall. When I cancelled, they said I wouldn't get a refund, and that no heating wasn't a reasonable reason to cancel.
