Singer House

The children didn’t want to leave Singer House, and we’d definitely recommend it, especially for families. The rooms were light, spacious and clean, and Vernon made us feel very welcome. He provided everything we needed, along with good conversation and suggestions for making the most of our time in the area. We had a great stay.

Vernon, the owner, is a really nice and helpful man if you need ideas for where to go or what to do. The rooms are excellent and tea and coffee are supplied. It’s right on the promenade, with two good pubs within a five minute walk and wetherspoons about ten minutes away. I’d definitely stay here again.

After a six hour drive from london, my family and I were left stranded because Vernon wasn’t prepared to wait for us to arrive, even though we were still within the two hour check in window. He shouted at me on the phone, then turned his phone off and ignored our calls. My ten month old daughter was with us. I’d paid £255 for the booking back in July, but we’ve had no refund. To make matters worse, he reported us to the police.

I’m posting for my mum, who’s still too upset after Vernon threw her and her friend out for being “rude”. He told them to park somewhere they would definitely have got a ticket, and asked them to take their shoes off before they could look at the room they’d paid for. He talked non stop about himself and how rich he was. He was also seen picking up a guest’s child, despite not following Covid rules. Then he told them they couldn’t stay, even though they’d booked through booking.com. Everywhere was sold out, so I had to put them up. Completely unacceptable, avoid. The place was a mess too.
