We travel around the country trying different roasts, and we’re now heading back to London very happy. Mark cooked a faultless roast, and I really enjoyed the meal. The staff were attentive and friendly, checking we were all right, and the price was very good. I also appreciated the extra. I’d definitely recommend coming here!

The owner and landlord deserve congratulations for the atmosphere, ale selection, exquisite food and great service. We had a delicious family meal here on 27 December 2025. The food was such high quality, even compared with Gastro pubs. Of the two best gastro pubs we know in the south east, this one and Bottle House Inn at Penshurst just outside Tunbridge Wells are the standouts. We’ll definitely be back!

The Sussex Smokey is a firm favourite of mine, and lunch here was lovely. The staff are friendly and professional, and those gorgeous log fires were burning away. It’s nice having such a good local pub.

The Sunday roast beef was delicious, and the quick, good service and lovely atmosphere made my birthday. I went with my son, Xander, and it really made my day.

We all agreed lunch was superb. There were five of us, and we each picked something different. The prices felt very fair, so we’ll be back soon. This would be a great place for a special occasion. We also picked up the Christmas menu while we were there, and it looks good. Highly recommended.
