Heritage Bed & Breakfast

Privacy was a real problem. The window opens onto the lean-to annex, where residents socialize, eat, watch TV and sleep on the furniture, so the curtains had to stay shut all the time. At night, the back doors and downstairs kitchen window were left wide open and unlocked, which made the place feel unsafe and unsecured. The en-suite was a cupboard added inside the room, taking up half the bedroom. Cooking smells came in through the window, and smoke from neighbors also came through the shower and toilet extractor when it wasn't running. Breakfast was just help-yourself cereal and toast. There were no instructions for the cooker, and finding a clean pan was a struggle. Free parking meant looking for a space on the street. It wasn't what we expected.
