The Coach House Hotel

We won't stay here again. The food was fine, but some staff weren't very friendly, and the cleaning woman made comments to my partner that I found completely inappropriate. We also had the unsettling sense that someone went through our belongings while we were out. After foot surgery, I didn't need my new folding walking stick all the time, so I left it standing against the wall in the room. When we were packing to leave, it wasn't there, and we initially thought we'd put it in the car. A few minutes onto the dual carriageway, I remembered it and checked. It wasn't in the car, so we called the hotel straight away. The person who answered said she'd look, then asked us to call back. She said she'd found it lying behind the shoe tray, which was odd because I'd left it by the wall where I could see it when I used it, nowhere near the tray. I explained that the stick was a new gift from my daughter and asked if they could post it to me, offering to pay postage. I was told that was fine, but it never arrived. We called several times and they confirmed they had it. I even sent the hotel a stamped, addressed jiffy bag from my local post office, but still didn't get it back. A few weeks later I called again and got a very unwelcome response: they said they knew nothing about a walking stick. Dodgy, to say the least. Awful.
