The barman was very pleasant and helpful, and it's a very nice pub. We didn't stay or try the food, but it's definitely a good spot for drinks and food.

The room was on the small side, but beautifully decorated and very well appointed. Breakfast was continental and fine, though butter and jam would've been welcome additions. The staff were warm and attentive, and the bar had a good selection of well-cooked meals and ale brewed on site. Highly recommended.

The food was great and came out quickly. £12 for a burger and a drink was really good value, but the service was shocking. One young woman was especially rude. She poured me the wrong drink, then responded with snarky remarks when I asked to change it. We also found a hair in one of our drinks. That can happen, but it needs to be handled properly. When we told her, she laughed, walked off and clearly didn't care. We won't be back. No food is worth putting up with that kind of service. She really let the team down, and they've lost four local customers. I wouldn't recommend the place.

Everyone liked the pies and burgers, and the chips were good. We were a booked table of eight, with four pies, two burgers and two steaks. My steak was cooked medium rare as requested, but it seemed more steamed than seared. It needed that proper sear, and the rosemary masked the steak's flavour. Such a shame, because the rest of the food and the service were brilliant. I'd come again, but skip the steak.
