The quiet here was the best part, and Betws y coed is only about 12-15mins away by car, 8 mile. There are plenty of places to eat, pubs and walks around there, but fuel up first since petrol stations are few. Back at the site, Claire and her husband made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The alpacas, chickens and geese were fun little characters too. We stayed in the Daisy Shepherds hut, which was clean, roomy, warm and comfortable, especially the bed. The heater gets it cosy in about five minutes, and the electrics and lovely showers were great. The changing room area has shower gels and creams, sinks, toilets, hairdryers and straighteners in both the men's and women's sections, plus ladies' supplies. The kitchen felt like home, with everything we needed: cooker, pans, kettle, plates, bowls, tea, coffee and sugar. Each of the two huts has half of a shared fridge freezer. We also got a welcome pack with biscuits and travel mugs for walks. Great value, and highly recommended.

We arrived as guests and left feeling like friends. Clare, thanks for such a lovely day yesterday and a wonderful couple of days. The boys are a dream come true. Hopefully we’ll meet Nigel on a future visit.

The facilities were all great, and we had loads of fun with the alpacas and hens. My girlfriend and I had a lovely weekend, thanks to the terrific hospitality Claire showed us. We’ll be back as soon as we can.

The animals were a real bonus: dogs are welcome, and there are chickens, ducks and 3 alpacas, with sheep and cows in a neighbouring field. It was relaxing to see and hear them. I’d happily return and recommend the place for a weekend away. The guest house is another option if the pods are booked. We stayed in Woody, the furthest pod. That turned out well, as nobody passed close by. It’s a little smaller than pods at other glamping sites we’ve tried, but still fine, with a double bed, plugs and shelves on both sides, a three-drawer chest, a small table and two chairs, a tiny TV, lots of blankets, hot water bottles, an electric fire and two dressing gowns. A wheelbarrow was provided for moving our things from the car. The shared kitchen has a table for four, two fridge freezers, two sofas and plenty of utensils, dishes and cookware. There are board games and a darts board, plus pasta, sauces, noodles, chocolate and canned drinks for when you’re in the middle of nowhere. The welcome pack included two thermal cups and biscuits, though other guests had continental breakfasts. There’s also a small welcome pack in the area. The loos and showers were clean and tidy, and the showers were excellent. Outside our pod were good views, a beer garden table, an oil barrel with a metal top for BBQ trays, a fire pit and two garden chairs. They supply what you need for a fire and BBQ, and even bug spray. The owners have clearly thought of a lot. On arrival, one of the owners gave us a warm welcome and a quick tour. The pod was good, so I’d rate it 4 out of 5 stars, or 7/10. For a higher score, I’d like thicker, fuller pillows and better timing on the toilet motion lights. It’s not great when they go dark mid business call. The owner was very lovely and attentive, maybe a fraction too much for my taste, but still a lovely person and it hasn’t put us off returning. Plates and cutlery in the pods instead of the kitchen would also help.

The views were the first thing that stood out. We watched the sun set behind the Snowdonia mountains from the site, a real highlight of the trip. Claire was an attentive host, and it was clear she’d put care into making guests comfortable. Our glamping pod was well equipped, with a lovely comfy bed and an electric heater that warmed it in about 5 minutes. Booking direct came with a complimentary breakfast hamper, and we were blown away by how generous it was. It had cereal, tinned beans and tomatoes, fresh local sausages and bacon, and fresh eggs laid right there on site. The shared kitchen and lounge had everything we needed, along with snacks available through an honesty box. A pack of logs and kindling for the fire pit or wood burner was included in the price, with more available in the kitchen for a small fee. There were thoughtful extras too, like marshmallows for roasting, bug spray and hand sanitiser. We had a wonderful stay at Llwyn Onn Guest House and Glamping and would highly recommend it for a relaxing break with lovely scenery. We’re already thinking about a return.
