We left Longships in Porthcurno less than an hour after arriving. It was filthy and uninhabitable: hairs on dirty bedding, sticky kitchen surfaces, a greasy hob, thick dust and cobwebs, and sofas and pillows that smelled foul. We booked through Sykes Cottages, and the lack of meaningful support afterward was just as upsetting. We sent photos and receipts, but they have been slow, dismissive and unhelpful. We had to drive 1.5 hours to find a hotel at short notice, cutting our holiday short and losing money on extra costs and cancelled bookings. I wouldn't recommend this property. In reply to the owner's comment, the photos were taken immediately on arrival, before we left within the first hour, and are time-stamped. No one in my family has black hair, yet there were black human hairs on the bedding, floor and cleaning equipment under the sink. We had no phone signal to contact the owner. I emailed Sykes Cottages as soon as we left and had signal, then sent multiple emails and app messages, but they have not replied. I also have receipts showing we stayed elsewhere on 30/08/2025, the first day of our Longships booking, and 31/08/2025, plus location data from my phone confirming it. The welcome book may have had contact details for the owner or housekeeper, but check-in wasn't allowed until after 17:30. By the time we got there it was late and we had no signal. Most of all, I have two children, one of whom is disabled, and it wasn't reasonable to wait around at night for the entire property to be cleaned again, especially when what we found gave us little confidence that the problem would be fixed.

The village was wonderfully peaceful, and the place felt like a much-loved, well-cared-for owners' holiday home. We couldn't find a fault. There was a lovely decked area where we ate some meals, and the decor was nice. Comfortable beds, good bedding, plus plenty of DVDs, puzzles and games made it easy to relax. The kitchen was so well equipped that we made cakes one evening, with silicone trays, scales, a whisk, mixing bowls and good cutlery, not the cheap sort you often find. Porthcurno beach is lovely and only about 200 metres from the property car park, then a short walk down. We had a fantastic time. Thanks so much for a great stay.

Longships has everything inside for a comfortable stay, including a washing machine, dishwasher and coffee machine. On a rainy day, there are films, books and board games, and the house is just as handy for getting out and about. Porthcurno Beach is a stunning two-minute walk away, and it's five minutes on foot to Minack Theatre, where I caught a show. There are great coastal walks, and Mousehole is a lovely quiet village for food with a sea view. St Michaels Mount is just up the road too. The open-top bus stop is a minute away. For £4 return, you can get off at places including Lands End, St Ives and Penzance, a great way to see the area. I'm looking forward to visiting next year.

Longships was a lovely place to stay, clean and nicely presented. It came well equipped with kitchen utensils, high chairs, stair gates and movies. The upstairs balcony garden was a lovely spot to relax. The beach, Minnack theatre and some lovely walks were just a stone's throw away. Thank you.

We stayed here with family in December 2016 and found it very homely. The apartment covered the upstairs and downstairs back half of a small building. It was lovely and clean, with a full kitchen, comfortable beds, good heating and a washer/dryer. There was also a lovely private garden and patio at the back, accessed through the master bedroom, and a stair safety gate that helped keep our toddler safe. It made a real home away from home while we enjoyed outdoor adventures around porthcurno and lands end. Owner Emma was friendly and straightforward. We appreciated the milk, cookies and fresh roses waiting for us when we arrived.
