The crab sandwich I chose was packed with crab, and there was a surprisingly good choice of dishes and specials. We had a relaxing lunch, sitting outside under cover with the option to move indoors if the weather turned. Our dog was welcome and seemed to have a great time too. Everyone was friendly, from the greeting in the shop to the restaurant service. The self-guided tour was short and sweet, and we could take it at our own pace with the dog. It was a handy way to get a feel for the place before the tasting. Guided tours also run at set times during the day. The tasting included a white, a rosé, and a red, with useful notes. I especially liked the white, which I don't think I'd tried that grape variety before. We bought a couple of bottles of wine and cider to take home, including that white. Happy to support a family business that's doing something good.

We’re already looking forward to coming back later in the year for lunch. Polgoon is a fascinating place to see beyond the gates, with an apple orchard for cider and acres of vines, some growing under polytunnels. The fruit for both the wine and cider is picked by hand, and the results are amazing. The vineyard sits in such a lush setting, I can't think of another like it anywhere in the world. Its wines really show the distinctive terroir of this part of West Cornwall.

The wine tasting was amazing, and I was glad to have the chance to visit and learn about winemaking here. Cornwall is producing wines of impressive quality that can hold their own in the market. The vineyard is beautifully kept, and the apple orchard adds to the setting. The shop and restaurant serve refreshing drinks and high-quality food, with excellent produce from the vineyard.

We couldn't leave without taking a few bottles of cider home. The varieties we tried were crisp, refreshing, and well balanced, with something to suit you whether you like them dry or a little sweeter. They went so well with the food. The pizza was full of flavour, made fresh with good ingredients, and cooked just right. The vineyard views and relaxed, welcoming feel made the visit even better. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and a memorable combination of cider and pizza. A must if you're in the area, highly recommended.
