Best Western Queens Hotel

The bed was incredibly comfortable, housekeeping came daily, and the room was clean. The sauna, steam room, and pool were wonderful, and I have no complaints about the changing rooms. The place looked nicer from outside than I expected, and most of the staff I met were lovely. Still, it all feels dated. My bathroom was clean, but had an avocado suite and 80s tiles, and the walls were paper thin, so there was a lot of noise. It was okay for a short stay. At £126 for two nights, the pool was the only thing that made the price worthwhile. You could find somewhere nicer for less otherwise.

The rest of the property was very nice, the location was fantastic, and the service and food were good. But my husband and I spent three miserable nights in the smallest hotel room I’ve ever seen. We hated staying there. We asked to switch rooms and were told they were full. We were in the cottages behind the hotel, and I wrote to our tour operator to suggest they stop booking those rooms. It was a relaxing stay, and the place looked fancy and was heated nicely. The beds were comfortable, and breakfast and dinner were really nice, though there wasn’t a good table in the room. The bedrooms were a bit slanted, especially the bathroom. I didn’t use the gym or pool, but they looked nice. The lift was tiny, though it moved quickly between floors.

We had a great time. The room was spacious and tasteful, and it’s a convenient location for the town centre and river walks. The friendly, helpful staff were lovely. Having leisure facilities on site is a real plus. Some gym equipment is a bit dated, but it’s all well maintained and properly equipped.
