The Fitzroy

We ended up changing our plans, and I’m so glad we did. After dealing with springy mattresses elsewhere, it was a relief to finally sleep on a comfortable bed. The room was cosy, the shower was great, and check-in went smoothly. There’s plenty of roadside parking, and it’s about a 20-minute walk to the main stretch of restaurants in town. Breakfast is definitely worth paying for. Alan and Ollie were wonderful, and I hope we can come back.

We’ve stayed at the Fitzroy twice with our son and daughter-in-law, and we’d all happily return. The rooms are comfortable and spotless, breakfast is superb, and it’s excellent value. Alan and Ollie are great hosts. There’s private parking, the city centre is close, and guests can get discounts at many pubs and restaurants. Easily the best B&B we’ve stayed in.

The hosts were so kind, friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious in a lovely elegant dining room. Our room at this B&B had beautiful decor and thoughtful little touches throughout. We can’t fault our stay at The Fitzroy, and we won’t forget it. Thank you both, from Brian and Jackie from Australia.

The breakfast alone was something special, with a huge choice and everything homemade, right down to the jams and croissants. The rooms are spacious, with excellent mattresses, sheets and pillows. The whole house is lovely, every detail included, and the hosts are professional, friendly and helpful. I’ve stayed at dozens of B&Bs on several continents, and this one is the best by far in every respect.
