Oundle Bespoke Apartments

The location is handy, just steps from the Talbot, Ship Inn, and the CO OP. The service, though, left a lot to be desired, and I wouldn’t stay again or recommend it to others. The apartment was filthy. Within hours of checking in, I found grime and dust all over the dishes and decor. Used colored contact lenses were scattered around, including in the bathroom, on the bedside table, and on the carpet. I even found a mozzarella stick in a teacup on the rack. After that, I washed anything before using it. A cleaner came weekly except during the week we arrived and the week we left, and only changed sheets and towels. They never Hoovered or took rubbish out. I also found a big clump of black cat hair, though I don’t own a cat. The furnishings seemed like a charity shop jumble. The sofa was so old you nearly sat down to the floor, the two dining chairs were very uncomfortable, and the bed was hard. People in other apartments said their furnishings were just as bad. I also realized the windows in my apartment were nailed shut, which might have been for winter, but seemed like a serious fire hazard with no escape that way. There are extra charges for every add-on. People staying long term pay under £2500 pcm, while shorter stays can cost upwards of £5,000 a month. I’m also not sure the owners realize everyone on the property can hear them fighting and shouting at each other at all hours.

Oundle rocks? We had a great month here in June 2022, staying in Aragon House. It was really spacious and had all the amenities we needed. A fresh coat of paint throughout would perk the place up, but otherwise it was perfect.

A week after our three day break at Oundle Bespoke Apartments, we were told that £250 of our £300 refundable damages deposit would be kept to replace a radiator cover. We’d left the deposit because we were bringing our dog. We had contacted the agent as soon as we got home to admit we’d accidentally broken a plate, but the radiator cover damage definitely wasn’t caused by our small dog, and £250 to replace one seems extortionate. We won’t be going back, as we’d worry about getting another huge, unfair bill for damage we didn’t even know about.

We spent six weeks here and loved it. Neil and Julie are wonderful hosts, and their beautiful rental homes are tucked away but still near everything you want in Oundle. The garden is immaculate, parking is easy, and it seems especially suited to longer stays.
