Queensgate Hotel

The room was basic but clean and spacious, with everything I needed, and the price was amazing. I stayed one night for a family occasion. The receptionist and barman were extremely helpful, and the locals were friendly and engaging when I sat in the bar. Such warm, welcoming people make a difference. Do not order from The KFC opposite!

The shower and bed were excellent, but a broken room window let cold air in the whole time. I stayed two nights while working nearby. It’s a three-star hotel, though I’d say it’s more like a two. You get what you pay for, and it was a cheap option, but I won’t be back. The car park is small, so the later you arrive, the less likely you are to get a space.

I left Room 4 exhausted after a stay that was meant to give me a restful night. You could hear people walking upstairs all night, and the door outside kept slamming shut. The sound insulation is practically nonexistent, and the noise made it impossible to sleep. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and offered very little support. Between the heavy foot traffic above and the doors, the room felt loud and restless. I wouldn’t recommend Room 4 to anyone sensitive to noise. I hope management looks at the door-closing mechanisms and the quality of the beds.

The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was bang up to date. I only stayed one night, so there isn’t much to say. The place was clean and tidy, if a little tired. It’s no Dorchester, but the rooms are comfortable, and the price won’t break the bank. It should also make a great base for contractor accommodation.
