We’re heading back next week, which says a lot. The Christmas party menu was a real bargain at £30 for three courses, and the service was attentive and efficient. We started with a whole baked camembert and dough balls, then had slow-cooked beef with all the trimmings. The beef was melt-in-the-mouth. I finished with the chocolate and caramel yule log, while Hubby had the Christmas pudding.

We’d stopped here because there was very little else nearby, and were glad we did. The meals and staff were absolutely stunning, and the food from the specials board was lovely. It was getting dark and wet, so the lovely lady serving even offered to drive us back to where we were staying.

A log fire and great staff made this old pub feel welcoming. It’s in a remote village, has things like a pool table, and serves nice food at reasonable prices.

The takeaway fish and chips were brilliant, with crispy batter and crunchy chips. Best we’ve ever had!
