That breakfast is one I’ll remember: haddock with poached eggs and black pudding, absolutely out of this world. The staff looked after us with a lovely, homely manner and got all the little details right. Dinner was great too, especially the beef brisket, the best I’ve had in 30 years. Afterward, we had a wonderfully quiet, peaceful night. Before we even arrived, the hotel called to check whether the snow and flooding meant we could travel safely. They also offered us an upgrade, which we really appreciated on a quiet Monday in rural Aberdeenshire. More places should do that. Our room was stunning, with Clipper teas, lovely colours and artwork, a beautiful shower, and a nice view. The bed and sheets were amazing. A real gem in Aberdeenshire. Don’t hesitate to stay if you’re in the area.

We held a baby shower lunch in the tack room, which was just right for a small private gathering. The food and service were faultless, and several guests said it was the best roast they’d ever had. From the first enquiry and booking through to the day itself, the service was fab. Even in a separate room, we were checked on regularly and never left waiting. Five-star service, thank you.

I keep coming back and have never been disappointed. The mix of a beautiful setting, walks right from the door, the hotel’s history and nearby Deer Abbey, lovely food, and such kind service makes this a place I recommend again and again. It’s the coziest, kindest, and frankly best hotel I’ve stayed at in Scotland. Keep up the great work!

After a lovely walk you can reach on foot from the car park, I relaxed in the snug with a fresh cheese scone and flat white. Super chill. The staff were really friendly, and the toilets were very clean. I’ll be back.

We arrived at very short notice and were welcomed so warmly. Our room in the shooting lodge was absolutely stunning, and the meal was gorgeous. Everything felt relaxed, with attentive staff throughout. Breakfast by the roaring log burner made it extra cosy. A beautiful, luxurious hotel with real charm and fabulous staff. I’d love to return and highly recommend it.
