I joined some girlfriends for a get-together and was really pleased with the post Xmas set menu last Friday. As a chef, I took the night off from my restaurant, and these days I often find expensive food disappointingly mediocre. Here, everything was excellent: the service, and food that was beautifully presented and delicious. It was great value too. I know how hard it is to deliver that level of catering on such a tight budget. I'll definitely come again, thank you.

The food was absolutely delicious at my recent work Christmas meal, and all the staff were lovely, friendly and extremely accommodating. The service was amazing, and I'll definitely be back.

It was busy on a sunny Sunday lunchtime, with an upper class crowd. The staff were friendly but clearly very busy, so service took a while. Drinks on draft were limited, and a pint of Moretti cost £6. Outside, there's a lovely, picturesque front garden, with a field and village play area opposite, though the parking area has an awkward shape and badly parked Chelsea tractors made it worse. The thatched country pub looks gorgeous from the outside, but inside it feels more like a modern gastropub, which was a disappointment.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating, and Luna the beautiful dog deserves a mention too. They kept offering us more vegetables, Yorkshire puddings from the start and throughout, plus loads of gravy. The Sunday roast was banging. Hope they get all the business they deserve.
