The Bell Guesthouse

We chose the Courtyard room so my wife, who has mobility issues, wouldn’t have to manage any stairs. It was smart and comfortable. There were small problems with the heating and hot water, but they sorted the heating and I wasn’t too bothered about the water. Breakfast was amazing, and everyone on staff was lovely and helpful. Nothing was a bother. We’ll be back!

We were there for nearly six months, and it really felt like home. The locals were top notch, and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. We were also treated to evening meals a couple of times, and the food was amazing. Looking forward to going back and catching up with these lovely people.

I couldn’t wait to get out of there. The place didn’t feel welcoming, and coming through the bar entrance meant getting stared at by locals who were drinking. There’s no reception desk. The staff seemed pleasant, but I wouldn’t recommend it, and I didn’t enjoy the stay at all. The bedroom carpets and bathroom were dirty, there were holes beside the toilet, and the radiators were covered in dust. The room smelled like old men, so I kept spraying it. There was a big spider on the wall by the bed that I had to catch in a cup and put outside. The shower was broken, and the kettle had brown finger marks all over it, which made me feel sick and meant I couldn’t use it. Breakfast was okay, but my “English breakfast” came with just one sausage and a spoonful of beans in an egg cup.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the welcome was lovely. Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. I’d definitely recommend it.
