My elderly parents would be very happy to stay in the ground-floor cottage again. It was easy for them to get around, with plenty of room to move, and the shower was easy to access via a step. The sofa and chair had high backs and were comfortable. Everything in the kitchen was within easy reach without too much bending or stretching. The one thing Mam mentioned was that the toilet was low, though I know it says we could have asked for a raised toilet seat. Parking was close to the cottage door, so they didn’t have far to walk. I hired it for their visit to the area, and it suited their disability needs well.

We had everything we needed for a comfortable four-night stay at the Farmhouse, and we’d have no hesitation about returning. My husband, our small dog and I felt at home as soon as we arrived. The furnishings are excellent quality, and the bed was very, very comfortable. Many thanks.

The cottages are lovely, but the customer service was absolutely terrible. My elderly aunt and uncle, aged 84 and 86, couldn’t stay because the accommodation was cold, with no heating or hot water on. There was no working gas supply at the property, and it didn’t look as though it would be fixed over the bank holiday weekend, despite insurance through the online travel agent. They had to stay with other family, whose own guests then had to sleep on the floor. We were offered a full refund if everyone left on Saturday, but there was nowhere for us to go. Since younger family members stayed, we were offered only £170 back from the £435 paid for three nights. Those who stayed only slept there and couldn’t use the facilities because it was so cold. I’m disgusted with the new owner and Host and Stay, and with the offer. There was no consideration for the circumstances or any goodwill. One star.

Really lovely holiday cottages. Spotlessly clean, with parking and a small private garden. Well priced and perfect for exploring the North coast and County Durham.

We spent Christmas in the cottage and had a really lovely time. It’s easy to access, cosy, clean, spacious and very well equipped. We could watch the cows and calves in the barn through the window, which was lovely. The beautiful beaches and coastal walks are easy to reach.
