I only found out about the one-dog limit and £25 dog fee after booking, when I opened the portal link they emailed me. The Booking.com listing for their “pet friendly” cottages hadn't mentioned either restriction. By then I'd paid almost £300 and had until midnight that day to cancel. I have two dogs, so the booking wouldn't work for us, and I was lucky I checked the rules quickly enough to avoid losing the money. I emailed to try to sort it out, but nobody replied before the cancellation deadline. I called seven times too, got no answer, and my voicemail wasn't returned. In the end I had to cancel.

The setting is full of lovely scenery and wildlife, and the bungalow itself is warm, really clean, and furnished with good quality pieces. They'd thought through the little things for a comfortable stay too, right down to washing-up liquid and decent hand wash. It's very reasonably priced, and I'd recommend it for a family break. Thanks to everyone who works hard to make it such a good place to rest, relax and explore.

We stayed in cottage 2 and found it comfortable and well equipped. The surroundings are beautiful, with pleasant walks and nice towns nearby. There are cottages in a good range of sizes, so it seems suitable for a short getaway or a longer stay. There's also a spot to charge an electric vehicle.

After a three-hour drive, we arrived in the pouring rain during half term and were told the cottage had been double booked, so we couldn't stay. That's an incredibly poor way to run a business. The host, Emily, said the property was already booked and that they'd asked Airbnb to arrange somewhere else for us or issue a full refund. She apologised for the problem.

We've been coming to this charming complex for ten years. The identical cottages are in a wooded setting, equipped well and very cosy for a family of four. The manor, where reception and seminars are held, is superb, and it has a swimming pool that was almost empty when we used it, so we practically had it to ourselves. The beaches are only about ten minutes away, and it's a great base near Eastbourne for a holiday or a relaxing weekend.
