We went out of season, so this might not reflect what it's like at other times. The chalets were comfortable, with a spacious living area and a well equipped kitchen. The twin rooms felt small for two people, though there was storage space, and the bathroom and shower were good. Getting around the park on our way back was confusing, especially after dark, even with the map. Others may find it easier than I did. Parking beside the chalet was tight for two cars but fine for one, and there's direct access to the pebble beach at the far end of the caravan park. We couldn't get the heating working and got no reply from the out-of-hours phone line, but a neighbour in another chalet helped us. The restaurant was closed during our visit, and I only saw two reception staff.

They gave our lodge away, then told us the day before our holiday and moved us to the bay a mile away. We'd booked here three times a year, but now I'd tell people to avoid it at all costs. It's not just the ownership, they rip people off and abuse them.

For £550, I expected a Gold caravan weekend with the advertised park facilities available. Instead, hardly anything seemed to be working properly, and we mostly had somewhere to sleep. The pool was closed when we arrived over Easter, and at the Boathouse Bar & Restaurant they said there was no food because they had no chef. Nobody had warned us. My husband ordered alcohol-free beer, but they only had six bottles for the whole bank holiday weekend. That felt very poorly prepared. Reception staff were friendly and said we could use the facilities while we waited. On Saturday we heard a new chef had started and food would be available. We waited around 25 minutes just to order at the bar, and it felt as though we were ignored unless we were park owners. Then, 20 minutes after ordering, we were told several things we'd chosen weren't available. My meal came completely wrong, and my friend's jacket potato arrived with wilted salad all over it, after the rest of us had nearly finished. Both the food and service were extremely poor. The Saturday night bingo was badly run too. It was so noisy that it was hard to hear the numbers, and nobody seemed to be managing the noise or making sure the game ran properly. Given what people pay to play, that was frustrating. We paid over £550 for the weekend and got very few properly functioning facilities. This wasn't the holiday park experience we expected.

The area is beautiful, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the facilities are okay. My main issue is that the dog-friendly accommodation has carpets. There were lots of stains from previous dogs, and now mine has marked around the property too, even though she never does that at home. I've been frantically cleaning after her. We kept our shoes on the whole time. One of my daughters gets very upset in places she sees as unclean, a bit OCD-ish, and has been crying and asking to leave since we arrived. Hard flooring would have made the stay much better for us. I would come back, but I'd need to know the accommodation had no carpets, or stay somewhere that doesn't allow pets and leave the dog with family.

I've been going to Pevensey Bay for years and love it, but this visit was disappointing. The entertainment was good, though our caravan was damp. I reported rubbish everywhere on Saturday, then again on Sunday. A nice lady with blonde hair did get it sorted. Bingo night was awful, with children running in and out and making a lot of noise. Parents were meant to supervise them. The place has changed a lot, with lots of young people working and living there. Apart from those points, it wasn't that good.
