The gardens and grounds were extraordinary. We spent about an hour walking around and still had so much to take in. High Dalby House sits in a wonderful forest setting, and Ian and Linda have thought of all the little details that make it feel so welcoming. Our room, Fountains, was lovely, with fabulous decor and a luxury bathroom. Breakfast was consistently excellent, with plenty of choice. It made for a wonderful break, and we’d love to return.

The garden is beautifully themed, with lots of spots to sit, relax and reflect. You can really feel how peaceful the place is. It’s a wonderful forest retreat if you want to feel away from everything. Our cottage was comfortable and well appointed. The hosts were in the main house, separate from us, and were lovely, welcoming and easy to reach without ever intruding. Highly recommend :)

Ian & Linda are such lovely hosts, and we can’t wait to come back. The house feels welcoming and comfortable, and the peaceful setting is beautiful. An absolute gem of a place to stay.

There was a lot of creative thought put into High Dalby, and the wonderful forest setting adds to it. We found it enriching to stay somewhere that combines the comfort of a quality venue with the deeper focus of a retreat centre. We especially enjoyed discovering the quiet reflective chapel, the Trinity garden, and the thought-provoking story that goes with the labyrinth.

The view from the conservatory was to die for! We stayed in Kingfisher Cottage, which was spacious and very comfortable. We chose to have breakfast in the main house. There was a good range of fresh food, nicely presented and cooked, and the hosts were pleasant and understanding.
