Haugh Rigg Farm

We were really pleased with our choice for a short first break here. It’s a couple of miles outside Pickering, which makes it handy for getting around the surrounding area. The site is so quiet and picturesque, with fields stretching into the distance and plenty of birds and wildlife around. The owner was lovely and polite, checking each day that everything was okay and we were happy. The toilets and showers were clean, and there’s a BBQ area with grills you can borrow. There’s also an outside fridge stocked with a few essentials, paid for using an honesty box. We’d most definitely come back and would happily recommend a visit.

We keep coming back for family camping and love it here. The host is considerate, attentive and lovely. Pitches are reasonably priced, flat and immaculate, and the site doesn’t let things get overcrowded. Fires and BBQs are allowed and well looked after. The toilets and showers are clean and well kept, with showers that run long enough for everyone.

There’s everything you need at this lovely little campsite, even though the facilities are basic. We had plenty of space and could choose where to pitch, and dogs are welcome. The freezer for ice packs is a really thoughtful touch. Nobody wants a warm drink! We brought our own fire pit and were able to light it. The atmosphere is relaxed, and both the owner and her lovely dog made us feel welcome. The owner took time to stop for a chat too. We’d recommend it and will definitely visit again. If peace and quiet are what you want, this little farm campsite in the middle of nowhere is a great spot. Lorraine is a perfect hostess, and the basic facilities are clean and fresh. It’s a bit out of the way, though still only five miles from Pickering, with easy access to the Moors, Scarborough, Whitby and Filey.
