The owner was so friendly, and the dog was lovely too. They couldn’t do enough for us, even finding us a nice table in the garden for drinks. Perfect.

15th & 16th June 2025 Rick & Linda. Carol & elliot made us feel so welcome, and the breakfast was lovely. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet at Lowther House. Nutty the dog was an adorable bonus. Thanks so much for a lovely stay. Would 100% recommend.

I slept better here than anywhere else on my trip. Lowther House is wonderfully quiet, and with the windows open I could hear the creek and local wildlife, including owls at night. Walking in from Pickering, I passed a delightful wildflower meadow that looked stunning even in the rain. On arrival, the caring, lovely host offered me a sandwich and hot drink. The hosts are keen to help, so let them know if anything isn't meeting your needs. I had a full Yorkshire breakfast in the garden. The seating area is surrounded by a thoughtfully arranged garden that gives way to native wildflowers supporting wildlife, including frogs and otters. I much prefer that to a completely manicured garden. The surroundings reflect the host's personality, full of interesting little delights.

Nutty, their pooch, was the star for us. Carol and Elliot went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and the house is in an idyllic location with gardens well worth a visit. We enjoyed taking the steam train to Whitby. Thanks, Carol, for making our four-night stay so memorable!

The scenery all around was gorgeous, and it was just the place to get away and relax from the noise of everyday life. I stayed one night and it was wonderful. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed from start to finish. Nothing to complain about.
