Pickering Lodges

We were lucky with the weather during our Friday-to-Monday stay at the end of September. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and explained the hot tub and fire safety when they showed us to Levisham lodge. It was warm and clean, with lovely lake views and wildlife. There were plenty of utensils and dishes, and the TV had Freeview plus apps including BBC iPlayer and Netflix. The rooms were spacious enough for a comfortable night, with fresh, clean bedding. Towels were laid out on each bed, and the welcome basket of biscuits, tea and coffee was a nice touch. The hot tub was clean and lovely to use. We went in day and night, and really enjoyed the views and the privacy. We had a drink at Spencer’s Bar and Grill on site. It seems to open only towards the end of the week and at weekends at the moment, but it’s cosy and welcoming, with a great drinks selection. There’s also a big play area outside for kids. The Black Bull Inn, across the road, was warm and friendly too, with a good range of food and drinks. Pickering is about a half-hour walk along Malton Road, and has small markets and unusual boutique shops. It’s a quiet, friendly little place and well worth a visit. We had a lovely, relaxing break and will return. The fact that everywhere is dog friendly is a huge bonus if you like taking your dog away.

The hot tub was a highlight, especially sitting in it at night and watching the stars. We’ve had another amazing stay at Pickering lodges, with everything we needed for a relaxing break in lovely surroundings. Marie and her staff go above and beyond to make guests feel looked after. See you again in February.

We had a great short break. The lodges, Spencer’s and the team were all fantastic. Pickering is very close, and the coast is about a 30-minute drive. My only gripe is that I wish we’d stayed longer.

The lodges are tucked back from the main road, and each is cleverly arranged to give it privacy from the others. Mine was very clean and well maintained, with a hot tub. I’ve been here three times in six years and plan to come back.
