Rocklands is in a great spot, and I always enjoy staying there. For the price, though, I expected a little more care with the details. The shower pipe was leaking, the light inside the shower didn’t work, and a few cupboard knobs were loose. We could also have used another tea towel and a couple more hand towels. The heating was hard to control: it was often lovely and warm, sometimes too warm, but wouldn’t come on in the morning until it felt like it.

The lodge was spotless and nicely presented, with the heating on and the hot tub ready when we arrived. We were shown to it after a warm welcome. It’s in a peaceful, beautiful setting with stunning views. Highly recommend!

The lodge itself was comfortable, with two good bedrooms, a spacious master shower room and a large walk-in shower. The second, shared shower room is much smaller, so another couple might feel short-changed. The kitchen was well equipped, with a gas hob, electric oven, large fridge-freezer, and plenty of pots and plates. The seating worked for two, though four would have felt cramped, especially around the dining table. There’s a big flat-screen TV, but only a few radio stations, perhaps because of the area. We weren’t won over by glamping, which is why we’ve given it three stars. If that’s your kind of break, you might add a star. We didn’t see the appeal of the hot tub after five minutes, so it felt like we’d paid for an extra we didn’t need. Some decor also looked tired: paint was scuffed, wallpaper was coming away in a couple of bedroom corners, and the outdoor decking could use another coat of stain.

The lodge was lovely inside, well equipped, and beautifully set up. The owners had thought of everything, and we had a really relaxing break. It was our first visit to North Yorkshire, our first lodge stay, and our first time in a hot tub, and we had a wonderful time. The setting and surroundings were beautiful. Rocklands Lodges are definitely worth recommending, and being dog friendly is a real bonus.

We love that there isn’t a pub on site, so this place suits us perfectly. It’s rural and peaceful, but still within easy reach of supermarkets, walks, and seaside towns. Our cabin was homely and very clean, with the essentials for cooking. The hot tub was clean and ready when we arrived, and the heating had been put on for us in the awful weather, a thoughtful touch. This was our second visit to Rockland's, and we’ll definitely be back. I’d recommend it to anyone after a quiet escape.
