Getting there takes confidence on narrow roads. The cottage is reached by about 3 miles of single-track lanes, where you may meet tractors or locals coming the other way, so be ready to reverse. The setting is stunning, though, and Wren Cottage was excellent for my wife and me. Small but beautifully appointed, spotless, and with an extremely comfortable bed. We didn’t meet Tom and Emily because of social distancing, but they kept in touch by email throughout to check everything was OK. It really is a holiday hideaway, and I have no hesitation recommending it.

A great spot for a relaxing weekend, with walks starting right outside if you fancy them. We stayed in Wren cottage with our Beagle, and found it lovely, clean and tidy. The kitchen is well equipped, and the host had left tea, coffee, milk and some of the best biscuits I’ve tasted. Clear instructions about the facilities and nearby attractions were provided, along with books and games for a rainy day. There’s a small garden to sit in and another garden area around the side of the two accommodations. The Bottle and Glass, about a 0.5 mile walk away, was excellent. We ate there Saturday evening and went back for Sunday lunch. One small snag: using only the postcode took us to a nearby farm with holiday accommodation and caused confusion. I believe the owner has updated the directions, or use What3Words address ///scavenger.manuals.signs. We’ll be coming back.

Even the rain didn’t spoil our lovely short break. The Nest is quietly tucked away on the peaceful side of the Long Mynd, with plenty of walks from the cottage. It’s small, but beautifully designed and equipped. Alex was a thoughtful host, and the locals were all very friendly.

The space feels homely and welcoming rather than like a show home, and we felt relaxed straight away. Tom was a lovely host from our first enquiries through to the end of the stay. It’s a fantastic place to find peace, quiet and comfort away from the noise and bustle of modern life. There’s a garden to sit in, lovely dog walks, and a dog-friendly pub within an easy walk, with an interesting menu and good Sunday lunch ( bottleandglass.co.uk ). We’d happily recommend it to anyone wanting a recharge, and hope to come back soon.

Alex greeted us, showed us around Dove cottage and its facilities, and was very friendly. The bedrooms are spacious, as are the bedroom, while the living area is smaller but comfortable and has what you need. The cottage is beautifully furnished, very clean and well equipped. The weather didn’t really let us use the two garden areas, though they looked lovely for sitting outside. It’s well placed for exploring, with Shrewsbury and Ludlow both within easy reach. The lane is narrow, but has plenty of passing places and little traffic. Great value for money, in a brilliant location, clean and well equipped. We’d definitely stay again. Thanks, Alex, for a great stay.
