Claymore Guest House and Apartments

The location, building and gardens are lovely, but we expected a typical B&B from the reviews and instead found a basic hotel room with little personality. The bed was comfortable and everything worked, though there were no personal touches beyond a fake plant. Even the wall-mounted shower soap dispenser felt like something from a school changing room. Check-in and breakfast take place at the neighbouring Westport Hotel. Its breakfast room was dated and very busy, with tables set extremely close together, which wasn’t the atmosphere we wanted. The staff were friendly and the food was okay. It’ll do if you only need a bed for the night. If you want charm, character or a proper B&B feel, this wasn’t it. A shame, given the setting.

We were in one of the apartments and cooked for ourselves. It was quiet, clean and warm, with a lovely garden view from the lounge. The kitchen was modern and had everything we needed, and the bathroom was spacious with a great shower. The staff were so friendly, and being at the north end of town worked perfectly for us.

The garden was a lovely place to relax, and the walk into town was easy. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, and breakfast was generous and really good. The staff were pleasant and helpful, nothing seemed like too much trouble. We can’t wait to come back.

We stayed in the Killiecrankie apartment and found it cosy, roomy and comfortable, with a huge bed and massive TV. Everything was spot on for cleanliness and comfort. Breakfast had plenty of choice, and the staff were really nice too. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the theatre, with shops and bars near the Main Street. The outdoor spaces would be lovely in sunny weather. I’d definitely recommend giving this place a go if you’re visiting Pitlochry.
