Hashtag Plymouth

The room itself was modern, bright and spacious, but the service fell well short of what I'd expect from a hotel. There was no kettle or usual tea and coffee in the room, just an empty kitchen where you'd need to bring your own utensils. I was given three towels, but even after asking, they weren't cleaned, so I used the same dirty ones for four days. Nobody vacuumed during my stay. Dust covered the floor and surfaces, and little balls of it kept drifting across the floor. It was also extremely hot. The window only opened a little at the top, so there was hardly any airflow and sleeping was difficult. Luckily, I was given a fan. The standards were below average. If my company hadn't placed me there, I would've been very angry about paying for such poor service.

We couldn't face a second night, even though we'd paid for two. The room was unbearably hot and noisy, and we didn't sleep at all. Its windows only opened about six inches at the top, so air couldn't circulate. On arrival, we asked for two extra pillows because the ones provided were terrible. We were told there weren't any and that we could buy our own at Primark, which we did. When we complained the next morning, reception gave us an email address. I wrote to them and never even got a reply. Would we stay again? Absolutely not. I'd tell anyone to avoid it. I'd give less than one star if I could.

The rooms were very clean, the staff friendly, and everything was within walking distance. There was no parking, and the seagulls were noisy. We also had to pay £5 to store our luggage because the room wasn't ready.

So far, so good. The place is basic, but clean, and cheaper than Travelodge and Premier Inn. I love this kind of student accommodation, and the staff are lovely. Highly recommend. 😄
