We were there from 14-16 Feb 2026 and would gladly return. The room was super, breakfast excellent, and the staff especially friendly. It’s well placed for the Barbican, Hoe, theatre and shops, and having parking on site was a real plus. Booking direct may let you reserve a space, saving £16.50 per 24 hours compared with street parking. Most hotels around here don’t offer parking. Thanks to Drakes Hotel.
We only stayed one night, but it was a lovely visit. Our Deluxe kingsize room was downstairs in the basement, yet it felt airy and spacious, and was modern and immaculate. The bed and bedding were comfortable, the shower was fantastic and the tea and coffee tray was well stocked. Breakfast had a good continental spread as well as a cooked option, ordered the night before. Staff were friendly and helpful. My only little gripes: the teacups were tiny, and although the bathroom window was frosted, it had no curtain or blind. With the light on for a night shower, rooms and apartments at the back might be able to see in.
The woman who greeted us was so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us and the kids. Our family room was clean, lovely and spacious for all four of us. Breakfast was made to order in the morning, with plenty to choose from. The location worked perfectly for the Aquarium and winter wonderland. Thanks for a great one-night stay.
Amy made the weekend for us. She was welcoming, helpful and funny, and it felt like being greeted by an old friend. We’ll definitely come back to see her again. She deserves a pay rise! 👍👍👍
Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The central Plymouth location is great, close to the famous hoe and barbican. But the stay over the 2025 Christmas break had a few problems. The hotel is old, with dated fixtures, and the power went out on our second night. The double mattress in the family room needs replacing. The shower pressure was only adequate, and the bathroom extractor was so noisy it woke us at 2am before we figured out the isolator switch. The heaters were turned right down, so it was cold until we adjusted them. Parking may be difficult when the hotel is full. We tried three times to reserve a space, with no luck, then arrived to find cones marking spaces for other guests. I was told a blue badge might qualify us to reserve one, and booking direct next time might give us a better chance. If they made the parking arrangements clearer and the electrics more reliable, I’d recommend staying. Otherwise, I’d avoid it.
