The Rose Cottage Inn

The hosts were really friendly and accommodating. When my clothes had a malfunction one morning, Val even gave us a sewing kit. We’d definitely stay again. We stayed in the Beacon View in January 2022, with a lounge, kitchen, bedroom and large bathroom. Check-in was super efficient, the cooking facilities were great, and the sofa was comfy for spending the evening in. There were books, a few board games and DVDs in the lounge. The bathroom was lovely, with good water pressure and a bath, just right after a long day on the hills. The bed was comfortable, and it was lovely waking up to views over the hills and horses in the field just in front. Great place for South Downs walkers.

The only small problem was the gate beside Hikers Rest 2. Make sure it’s latched properly or propped securely open, or the wind will keep banging it and might wake you at 3am. Otherwise, this was a really lovely, clean place with friendly, accommodating service. Our dog settled in well away from home and had plenty of space to run around. The WiFi was excellent, and they were flexible when we needed to change our booking at the last minute.

A very nice room, with a lovely couple running the B&B in a lovely area. Breakfast costs extra, which was fine as I don’t like breakfast, and they were generous with the coffee. They only served breakfast at the B&B. We visited Berwick Church, which was awesome, and had a wonderful pub meal down the road at the Cricketer's Arms.

David and Val were wonderful hosts and made my wife and me feel very welcome. We fell in love with this B&B. The Loft apartment was warm, clean and private, with everything we needed, including a well furnished kitchen, lounge, bathroom and bedroom. We liked being so close to the South Downs. It would be a lovely walkers’ retreat, or a peaceful escape in this beautiful corner of Sussex. Thank you, David and Val!
