The walks start right outside, and there’s plenty to explore nearby. Tesco is up the road for a bigger shop, and Swansea wasn’t far when we needed a pharmacy on Sunday. The cottage was warm, bright, modern and historic, with a lovely outdoor area. We loved it, and the kids did too. Our host was available when I made a mistake and needed help. A couple of practical things: there are no blinds in the second sleeping area, and unloading two weeks’ worth of luggage and food was difficult with just one adult. Don’t try driving closer, it’s inaccessible. The parking is extremely close, which was tricky in my case, though most people probably wouldn’t think twice about it. We’d come back again and again if we lived in the UK. Thank you so much!

It’s very quiet at night, and the log burner made for a cosy evening. The cottage was clean and tidy when we arrived, with a lovely wet room and underfloor heating. A few useful additions might be a microwave cover, a first aid kit and scissors. The walk from the car park is the main difficulty. It’s about 200 metres and very hilly, so it may not suit elderly guests. We tried driving up to unload our clothes and food, but our car couldn’t manage the wet, steep track. We had to carry everything to and from the cottage.

A good, private spot for getting away from it all, with a lovely wood burner and underfloor heating in the bathroom. The bed was very soft and the sofa really hard, so that’s why I’m giving it four stars. Otherwise, great.

The local pubs serve nice food, and it’s easy to get to the Brecons and the coastline. For walks, the Swansea Canal route and the river nature walk are right nearby. We saw otters, kingfishers, and some rare dragonflies and butterflies. Both walks are a must.

We got home after three nights at this beautiful, tucked-away cottage, and it went by in a blink. It completely exceeded our expectations. The pictures don’t do the place justice. My only complaint is that three nights with my husband was nowhere near long enough. Absolute perfection.
