It’s very close to Strata Florida Abbey, and the pub is a handy stop for cyclists, motorcyclists, and motor homes or camper vans using the overnight scheme. They can park for free as long as they have a drink or meal in the pub. I was cycling along Cycle Route 82 when I came across it just after it reopened with new owners and a great new chef. The staff and locals were incredibly friendly, and they even let me camp for free in the riverside pub garden. I had a delicious meal in the lovely dining room by the open fire. I only wish I hadn’t missed Sunday lunch, everyone was raving about it. I’m looking forward to a winter trip and trying the ensuite rooms next. Thanks to everyone there!

We booked a table for nine for tea, and the food was fantastic. The full rack of ribs is highly recommendable. There was good live music and a fantastic atmosphere, and the staff kept the beer flowing. We joked with the chef about an apple-free crumble, then one actually turned up, which amused us. We’ll definitely call in again.
