The sea views were wonderful, especially from the Upper lighthouse. Climbing the steps into the glazed tower was great fun, and the old Observer telescope is up there too. From the top, we could see across the Channel and along the coast in both directions. The swimming pool was delicious after a hot day, sheer bliss. My wife, brother-in-law and I had a great four-day break at this fabulous lighthouse/cottage. Brad and Milly Lockyear made us feel welcome. The cottage was cosy, with lovely rooms, a lounge and bedrooms, plus a well-fitted kitchen. It's a great base for exploring local coastal paths, other lighthouses and castles.

The tower next door was a real bonus, with even better views across the peninsula. The lounge is upstairs and the bedrooms are on the ground floor, making good use of windows on all four sides. The accommodation was clean, tidy and comfortable, and the owner was friendly and approachable. We had nothing to raise during our five-day stay. A few basics, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits, were waiting for us, which was great as we arrived later than planned thanks to the A27. Coastal walks and the old stone quarries by the sea are very close and must-sees. The Lobster Pot is a short walk down the hill, well worth a visit and the climb back up. It's an ideal base for people who enjoy walking, though it can be windy. We had a lovely stay and hope to return.

We stayed three nights in Stopes Cottage at the Old Higher Lighthouse recently (Jan2022). It was spacious, comfortable and well furnished. Getting access to the old lighthouse made for a really unique experience. I'll never forget sitting up at the top with a cup of tea, relaxing on the seating. Highly recommended!

It's peaceful but has plenty of atmosphere. I loved chilling at the top of the lighthouse, watching ships pass and the seascape change.

I only walked around the area, I didn't stay here. It's very wet and wild.
