After a six-hour drive, the delicious pre-prepared afternoon tea for £12.50 was just what we needed. We were made to feel very welcome, and the room was clean and comfortable, with a small fridge and tea, coffee and milk provided. The only shame was breakfast: it wasn't freshly cooked, just a bowl of cereal and a croissant in the room.

We waited for the place to open at 14:00 on Monday 13th October, but it never did, so I can't rate it. There was nothing on the door or windows. Maybe it's closed on Mondays in the off season?

We had dinner at the hotel and it was excellent. The room was lovely, with a great bath and shower, and the extra-large bed was very comfortable. The continental breakfast in the room was what you'd expect. The Neuk is a nice place, though a bit of a walk from town along a road with no pavement, so not ideal if you're going shopping. I had thought it was closer, but it didn't matter too much.

My son and his partner stayed here while visiting. They found the room adequate, with a nice king-size bed and a good bathroom and shower, and the owners were very helpful. The downside was noisy guests in the room next door one night. The walls are very thin, and they were kept awake until the early hours.

It's out of the way, but worth the trip. The owner serving us had great banter, which alone made the visit worthwhile. There was also a good range of whisky and gin at the gin bar, and the food was lovely with options for vegetarians and vegans. Prices were better than most. Looking forward to going back.
