Prospect House

The breakfast was lovely, and the location and view were good. For the price, though, the place was missing a few small touches. The decor felt very dated, and our room was extremely cramped, with nowhere for our luggage. There wasn’t a socket by the tea tray, so we had to boil the kettle on the floor, and there was no bottled water. The room was reasonably clean, and the bathroom was generally clean too, but the sink had a huge crack. The shower pressure was weak, water wouldn’t drain from the foot tray, and there was no slip mat inside or outside the shower. Getting out felt very slippery.

The landlady was lovely, and the location is great. I stayed three nights in a cosy room with a really comfortable bed. Breakfast had a good choice of cereal and juices, followed by a lovely cooked meal. I had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it.

Back from a quick two-day stay and very happy with the service. The location worked perfectly, with everything within walking distance. I’d happily stay again and would recommend it.

Alva made us feel very welcome and couldn’t have been more accommodating during our four-day holiday. The beds were especially comfortable after long days out, there was plenty of hot water for showers, and we had a beautiful view from the third floor. Breakfast was generous and really enjoyable, with a cooked option, cereal, toast, yogurt, fruit, juice, tea and coffee always available. It set us up well for the day. We’d recommend staying here.
