There’s a lot of history in this country hotel, including a priest hole, and the building has plenty of character. We stayed here while walking Offa’s Dyke, though it’s a couple of miles from the path. Our en suite room was spacious, even though this was one of the less expensive places we stayed on the trip. It was a carvery night, but there were vegetarian options, and my nut roast was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, and advised us on the best way back to the path.

The only drawback for me was the loft room upstairs, including its bathroom. I kept bumping my head despite trying to be careful, especially moving around the room and getting out of the shower. We stayed in the three-bed apartment opposite the main building with a group of friends. Since we had our own transport, location wasn’t a big concern, and parking was available. The rooms were clean, with nice carpets and fresh sheets and towels. The kitchen had a fridge, microwave, utensils, sink and kettle for tea and coffee, and they’d left cookies too, which was a nice touch. The food was great, and there’s a bar.

The staff really made the place special. They were friendly, attentive and genuinely welcoming, and nothing felt like too much trouble. We spent a full week at the Radnorshire Arms and found the whole stay faultless. The pub has a warm, home-from-home feel that made it easy to relax. Our room was spotless, comfortable and well looked after, with everything needed for a longer visit. Food was consistently good quality with generous portions, and breakfast set us up well each morning. It’s also well placed for exploring Radnorshire and the countryside nearby. We had a wonderful holiday and would gladly return or recommend it.

The bar had a good choice of draft beers, which was welcome after a long day, and breakfast was a pleasant continental spread in a friendly setting. Our rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable, and check-out was easy. From arrival, the check-in staff were warm and welcoming, and showed us to our rooms with care and professionalism. A characterful hotel with great service, and we’d happily come back.

The history of the Radnorshire Arms fascinated me, and it’s only a short walk from the high street shops. The place felt like stepping back in time, with crooked walls, lots of low beams and spacious, airy rooms. Our room was lovely, though the floors were wavy. My husband had to keep ducking under the beams, which I found pretty funny, even though I probably shouldn’t have. The stairs were incredibly steep, around 70-80 degrees. I wouldn’t fancy climbing them after a few drinks. The route to our room was a bit of a puzzle: up one flight, down four steps, up three, then up the steep stairs and down four more.
