Guy's Thatched Hamlet

We spent one night here and found the room had everything we needed, with a comfortable bed. There’s a canal with boats alongside the hotel, and it’s nice to walk around there. The staff were kind and friendly, and the pub was good. We didn’t enjoy the Italian restaurant much, though the Tiramisu was delicious. We had a good stay and would come back.

We stopped by to see how things were going after all the controversy over it closing, and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was well run, the service was quick, and our haddock and chips were delicious and generously served. The surroundings were pleasant, and we had a wander outside. It brought back memories of how pubs used to be a hub for dining and entertainment, and a lovely spot where everyone could relax and eat. It’s such an unusual pub in a beautiful setting. I hope the new owners succeed and make Guys good again. They need customer support, so come down for a reasonably priced meal and help keep it open for everyone, near and far.

The Thatched Hamlet had a charming atmosphere, and the service was top-notch. I had a really enjoyable visit and am already looking forward to going back! ✨😊👍

The price was a shock, and I should have asked beforehand. I ordered a large glass of house white wine, which is the cheapest, along with a lime and soda. The glass wasn’t anywhere near full, but the total came to £10.20. When I went inside to check, the bar attendant said the wine was £9.45 and told me I should have bought a bottle. I asked how much a bottle was, and he said £25. I was sitting outside in the sun with other people, serving myself. This isn’t a five-star restaurant with waiters looking after me. I was really disappointed and will never go back or recommend it. I’ve never paid that much for a wine. 😱😱😡
