Spring Bank ApartHotel

The location is great, and with fresher decor and more attention to cleaning, this could be an excellent place to stay. The carpet in our room was badly stained, and the bed I slept in needs a new mattress because the springs were completely worn out. Both my lower-ground-floor room and my friend’s ground-floor room need repainting, and the holes in the walls should be fixed.

The room was in a very run-down state, with cobwebs in the bedroom and bathroom, and a toilet seat hanging halfway off. The bedding, furniture and fittings also need a lot of work. The mattress was completely worn out, noisy springs poked through, and half the bed had collapsed. Nails were sticking out underneath, and I nearly tore my hands on them. For somewhere cheap, I suppose the condition is reflected in the price, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here and definitely won’t return. Booking was easy. To check in, you ring the mobile number on the front door, then someone lets you in, tells you which room to go to, and you pick up electronic keys for both the bedroom and front doors. It works, but feels very impersonal. Breakfast is included and is a self-serve continental spread in the basement. I didn’t try it, so can’t say how good or bad it is.

A good find, with clean rooms, a decent shower and a fan in the bedroom. The location is great, and the man who let us in was friendly. Checking in over the phone meant we could arrive whenever, which was a bonus. Breakfast was a good continental self-serve selection, with cereal, toast, croissants, crumpets and more. I’d happily recommend it. The one downside was that there was only one towel in the room for the two of us.

A cosy spot near the train station, with clean, well-heated rooms and really soft, comfortable beds. Breakfast is included in the price.
