The Priory Inn

We had a relaxing night here on our way to the Lake District, ready for a full day at Windermere. The apartment was clean, modern and lovely, and breakfast in the morning was divine. The village is lovely too, with a shop and a place called the barn where you can get a sweet treat. Staff were happy, friendly and helpful. We’d recommend it and will definitely come again.

The breakfast the next morning was the saving grace, it was really nice. We stayed Friday night for a wedding at wyresdale park and paid £109, but left a bit disappointed. The old, creaky B&B has its charms, though the room badly needed a deep clean. There was dust all over the ledges and behind the table. The bathroom needed attention too: thick old dirt around the shower door track, limescale all under the toilet rim, and dust along the trims. When we got into bed, we noticed a musty smell, and the duvet throw could do with airing.

We were in the area for a meal with friends nearby and stayed here for the night. The room was nice, especially the large, well-decorated bathroom, and the staff were really friendly. Breakfast was great too. There’s a well-stocked shop across the road. I only wish the café and bar stayed open a little later, though I understand there may not be enough demand.
