The White Stag Lodge

The setting was really peaceful and quaint, though a bit far from main places like Ramsgate. Public transport wasn't great, but there was parking if you have a car. We stayed two nights. The room was small but fine, the bed was very comfortable, and the clean, soft bedding meant we both slept well. It stayed warm even in cooler weather with the windows open. The shower had impressive pressure despite the main shower head being broken. Replacing it would make a real difference. The host was welcoming and service was pleasant, but we couldn't work out whether breakfast was served or how it worked, so we went elsewhere. Clearer information would help. There weren't any coffee cups in the room. They had been offered and we forgot to pick them up, but they weren't brought up either, so perhaps that was a shared oversight. WiFi had a good signal but made us reconnect every 15 minutes or so, which was frustrating when sending emails because the connection could drop mid-send. I'd generally recommend the place. With some small fixes to the shower head, WiFi and breakfast instructions, it could be very special.

The location was nice and the bar staff were friendly, but one very drunk regular made aggressive comments to someone in our group as we were leaving. The bar staff seemed amused by it, which surprised me even more. There weren't many ales either. This pub could be lovely, but I definitely won't bring my family here.

We arrived after the food service had finished, but chef Tom still made three steak dinners for us, and every one was cooked perfectly. The service was outstanding, and all three of us were very happy and grateful. I'd highly recommend this place for the food and service.

The room was clean, lovely and had everything we needed for a short family break. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had our own key and could come and go whenever we liked, which we really appreciated. We were pretty much left to ourselves.
