Elmhurst Hotel

I had to move rooms twice because every room had bed bugs. The rooms and toilet were very dirty, with sticky stuff on the doors and walls. The day after, I had an allergic reaction from the bites. It was disgusting, and I’m never going back.

There’s a good choice of takeaways nearby, and a Coop is only a few minutes on foot. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, though the decor is dated. For the price, it was excellent value, and there’s free parking and a restaurant on site with a good food selection. I’d recommend staying here, and I’ve already booked another visit.

This is the cheapest hotel in Reading, so you get what you pay for, but the rooms really need an upgrade. My room was very unclean and dated, with dirty bedding, sticky surfaces, grimy cups and glasses, and a particularly dirty shower cubicle. The tea bags weren’t in packets and tasted stale. The TV worked, though, and the shower head itself was good quality.

The only real plus is the price, it’s the cheapest hotel in Reading. Otherwise it’s very basic, with dated furniture and a shared toilet and shower room. Cleanliness needs work, and the furniture should be replaced.
