Flexistay Reading West Aparthotel

Making my own breakfast was new for me, but the bacon was good quality and there was a decent selection available all day. I got two good, long sleeps in the huge bed. The bath sheet actually wrapped around me, and I could dry and straighten my hair while seated at the dressing table, with sockets close by. It was good value, and I’d use it again if I’m in the area.

The walls are paper thin, and check-in and check-out were confusing. Still, for such a cheap stay, I thought it was really good. There’s a communal kitchen stocked with loads of free food, milk, juice and other things, plus Wi-Fi is included and fast enough. Given the price, I’m not sure what more some other reviewers expected.

After a stressful day, I felt welcome and relaxed within moments of walking into the Flexistay. I travel all week, every week as a trade plate driver, and found this place at the cheapest price, but it didn’t feel cheap. The atmosphere was great, with people playing pool and friendly staff. The room and facilities were good too. The woman at the desk was amazing, so friendly and smiling, which you don’t find everywhere. And the bed was soft, cosy and just right. There’s a pool table, a dartboard, some light gym equipment and a full kitchen for guests. I’m no Gordon Ramsey, so I only used the microwave, but the kitchen was tidy and well maintained. Ten out of ten, I’ll book again next time I’m nearby.

There was nobody at reception when we arrived, so I had to use the intercom and wait 20 minutes for someone to check us in. The rooms cost plenty, but they look nothing like the photos on Trip advisor or Booking.com. There’s mould on the ceiling over the shower and toilet, and wallpaper is peeling off several walls. It’s a sh*t hole, they should be paying us to stay there.
