A proper English pub, run by a lovely family who really care about their customers. The food, atmosphere and service were great, and the staff were friendly. Please support them however you can. I’ll be back once I’ve moved into the next village. Fully recommend it! 5 ⭐

We were three people staying at The George and Dragon for a lovely night in early June. The welcome was warm, and we had dinner there, which was excellent. Our three rooms were comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was included: a cold buffet plus a choice of sausage, bacon or egg sandwich. It was filling and more than enough. The Inn has a traditional feel, and I’d thoroughly recommend visiting.

We had a lovely lunch at the George and Dragon at Wolverton Townsend. It came out fairly quickly despite a number of other diners, and the portions were reasonable. There’s plenty of parking for all kinds of vehicles, and rooms are available if you want to stay overnight. It was great to see some locals we first met there 17 years ago still coming in. I used to be a regular here in 2009 and was excited to bring my children back. Some things have changed. The bathrooms have been greatly improved, while some of the pub’s old vintage charm has gone, in my personal view: the dried hop vines and older decorations are gone, there’s now a television in the bar, and the skittles alley has been replaced with more accommodation. That didn’t affect the food or service, though, and it’s still a good place for a pint and a meal. When the weather’s good, you can sit in the grassy area at one of the picnic tables and enjoy the sunshine.

We had a great Valentine’s weekend here. Our Superior rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the Saturday dinner was lovely and well cooked. I had excellent grilled sea bass, while my other half’s burger was so big she couldn’t finish it. Staff were so lovely and attentive, and the cozy bar with its open fire was welcome in the miserable weather. Breakfast had both healthy and cooked choices. I went for the cooked option, and it was perfect. I only have one small moan: nobody told us the bar and restaurant closed on Sunday evening. We walked over to find it dark and were disappointed, as we’d hoped to get a bite to eat. We had to drive a short way to find somewhere else, and luckily we hadn’t had a drink, or we might have had rumbling stomachs all night. It’s a great place, and I highly recommend it. I’d definitely book again.💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💕

The room was basic but clean. It smelled a bit musty at first, though opening the windows cleared it quickly. Breakfast was decent and free, and the evening meal was very good quality with a large portion.
