The apartments are spacious and comfortable, and the place feels modern. House of Fisher – 100 Kings Road is in a great central spot, close to everything in Reading. It was clean and convenient, and would work well for a short visit or a longer stay.

I’d paid for a room, but was told I couldn’t enter the building because reception closes at 8pm. I’ve stayed in thousands of hotels and never had trouble checking in late. Now I’m stranded with my travel bags and nowhere to stay. What a joke of a company. Avoid this place.

The rooms are new, well equipped, and looked after, and they’re pet friendly too. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the station, restaurants, and bars. Everyone I dealt with across reception, guest services, and reservations was friendly and helpful.

The apartment was much larger than I expected and very clean, with enough room for however many people it sleeps. I’d never stayed in an apart-hotel before, so the whole experience was new to me. It’s surprisingly quiet for a spot on the east side of town centre, and everything is walkable. There are bus stops close by for the east of Reading and beyond; heading west, it’s only two or three stops to the main shopping areas and railway station. The kitchen had utensils, a large fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer, pretty much everything needed for several days. Tea, coffee, and biscuits were waiting when we arrived. The lounge shares a room with the kitchen, and there’s a desk as well as a dining table for working. The smaller bedrooms may not have a desk. Bedrooms have wardrobes with sliding doors and full-length mirrors. The windows have blinds rather than curtains. Bathrooms were bright and clean, and there was an ironing board, iron, and small hoover to use. The building is accessible, and the staff were friendly. It was quiet, warm, and felt homely, helped by the art on the walls. You can adjust the temperature with the thermostat. Guests can meet, relax, have a drink, read, or play games in the communal lounge on the first floor, which also has some activities for children. I’d stay again. How often do you find somewhere that shares your name? A Fisher

I actually stayed at the City Wall House and loved the place. I hope checkout can be at 11am. Both House of Fisher locations are great and conveniently close to almost everything you might need during your stay.
