The apartment made a great base for a mini break with our five-year-old and baby. There was loads of space for the kids, and the hosts were easy to reach about things like the travel cot. We didn’t end up putting all four of us in the bedroom, though there’s room for a travel cot, a double bed and a floor bed for a child if you move a little furniture around. Getting into town on foot was easy, with everything accessible nearby. Booking was straightforward, and the price felt very good for a cosy, well-equipped home from home. Secure parking was included, which we really appreciated after another Reading aparthotel charged extra and couldn’t fully guarantee a space. We asked for a car-park-facing apartment because we’re light sleepers, used to a quiet country road, and had read about possible road noise. We know Reading well and that road is fairly busy. I was up during the night with the baby and we spent mornings in the apartment, but the traffic never disturbed us or woke us. We could hear it, though it wasn’t louder than anywhere else in Reading, which we know from having lived there. We loved staying at Wesley Gate and plan to come back on future trips.

The location was perfect, but the flat was beside both the highway and the street, so it got quite noisy at certain times. The bigger problem was ventilation. For security, the windows are locked and can’t be opened, and the fans weren’t enough to air the flat, especially with five people inside. I’d have preferred being able to control the window locks ourselves.

We ended up staying at Wesley gate for 14 weeks because of circumstances too dull to get into, and tried all six apartments. I can say they’re a GREAT place to stay. The landlords are lovely, and the location is handy: five minutes on foot to the town centre and ten to the station. The facilities are lovely, with a great kitchen and bathroom. Highly recommended.

The people running Wesley Gate are quick to answer questions and happy to sort out any issues. The apartments are secure, with safe parking, and there’s a nice little pub close by. The train station is a 15-minute walk away. They’re clean, modern and comfortable, and all finished to the same high standard. Each has a washer-dryer, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave, plus enough dishes and cutlery for a family of four. There’s WiFi and a large TV in every apartment. Towels and bedding are provided, and the sofa beds are the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. I’d definitely recommend Wesley Gate.

The hosts were a pleasure to deal with, really responsive and excellent. I stayed for two weeks for work, and the apartment felt homely, was clean and well furnished, with everything I needed. Highly recommend!
