It's really central, just a few minutes' walk into town, with an Aldi right next door. The rooms are completely separate from the pub, with keyless entry and a box to drop the keys in when you leave. My room was small but adequate, with a decent sized bathroom and even a fridge. There are six free parking spaces for ten rooms, but it was fine while I was there. It's a nice little place, though I reckon if they went on Four in a Bed again, they might not win, as probably not a lot has changed since. Traffic noise was a bit annoying when the bin lorry came to empty the bins. The Juliet balcony door could use double glazing, there was some mould in the shower corners, and the TV signal was poor, especially in the morning. Still, not much to complain about in general.

The staff were really friendly, and there was a good range of beers at the pub next door. Parking is free for guests, and the showers were piping hot. Rooms are on the small side but perfectly fine. Shame there's no food, though I can recommend the Everest Indian restaurant nearby.

We could barely sleep. The room was very noisy from equipment somewhere in the building and from the beer garden right outside the window. It wasn't especially clean either. We tried to raise the problems with staff, but they were arrogant and made us feel as if it was our fault their room wasn't fit for sleeping in. After seeing some of the owner's replies to other people with real concerns, his behaviour seems histrionic.

All the amenities are within walking distance, and the location is excellent. We stayed in room number 9 on Saturday 24th August 2025 after a party in the square. The place is a lovely little gem, very clean and comfortable. We didn't meet the hosts, but the bar staff who gave us our keys were very friendly. Highly recommended, 5*. Thank you, keep up the good work. We'll be back 😊

Retford is a cracking little town, and the hotel sits right at the end of the high street, close to lots of shops and places to eat. The property is well kept and beautifully clean, and it was great value. Our room had a fan, which helped, but it was still warm without air conditioning during the peak of summer. Truly excellent stay.
