Rhayader worked well as a base for a cycling holiday, and the property is only a short walk from the town centre, shops, and pubs. My room was quiet, a decent size, and had a nice view. Breakfast was okay, though the sausage could have been better quality, with more meat in it. The shared bathroom and the in-room sink could both use mixer taps, and the toilet paper in the shared bathroom ran out during my stay and wasn't replaced. I didn't feel very welcome. The woman running the place barely spoke to me, asked nothing about my visit, and offered no ideas for things to do or places for dinner. I didn't need suggestions, but more than “here is the key” would have been nice and much appreciated. It was okay for a three-night stay, but next time I'll probably stay elsewhere. I'll definitely be back in the area with my road bike.

It's a nice base for exploring the Brecons and central Wales, with restaurants conveniently close by. The welcome was pleasant, and the room was clean with lovely views.

I've stayed here on and off for about seven years. It's rather dated, which is the only reason it loses a star, but the basics are spot on: a clean bed, clean bathroom, and a good fry-up for breakfast.

A bit dated, but quiet.
