The Lamb and Flag Inn

This was our second evening eating here, after a good experience last year, and the service was just as good again. The portions are generous, and the staff are very attentive. They set a great example of how pubs and restaurants should check in with customers about food and drinks. Diolch.

The food was excellent and the staff very helpful. Parking on site is very limited, but there's a nearby public paid car park with EV chargers. Bring a type 2 cable, and there are four possible charging slots. I stayed in room 3 above the pub. It was generally a good stay, though there are a few things to be aware of. The room is above the toilets, so you can hear the hand dryers and water systems, which are quite noisy. It wasn't too bad while I was there, and once the pub empties out you'll be fine. The room itself is basic but clean and tidy, with good bed and linen. There's no room for a desk or seating area, so it's not suitable for working. A kettle is provided, but the hand basin is so small you can only fill it with about a cup of water, so you'll need to pour water using a glass. There's a small window above the door, and the fire escape light stays on all night, as you'd expect, but it lights up the room. A simple blind would sort that out.

We stopped in for lunch while spending a short break in the area. The pub felt cosy and welcoming, the staff were very friendly, and the food was great. We'd definitely come back next time we're nearby.

We stay at Oakwood and come here for our tea every year. The portions are amazing value for money, and the food is always tasty. The staff are welcoming and keep a nice pace between courses, attentive without making us feel rushed. The chefs never disappoint.
