The garden was a lovely spot to unwind, looking out over the countryside, and there were fields close by for dog walks. The Escape itself was comfortable and spotless, with a kitchen stocked with everything we needed. Joy was a great host, and the homemade scones and jam waiting for us were delicious. There's a friendly pub right next door, and Lewes, the South Downs, and some lovely beaches are all about a 20-30 minute drive away. We visited in August and had lovely weather, but the cosy cottage and log burner sound just as appealing in winter.

We've been coming to the Escape for years because it suits us so well. On our latest visit we didn't have a car, but getting around was easy, with buses to and from Lewes stopping almost right outside. The place is spotless and well looked after, with a great layout and a beautiful garden. Thanks, Joy, for being such a lovely host, and for the delicious scones and honey.

A warm little cottage with everything you need and a very friendly host. It’s just right for two, with a lovely garden overlooking fields and sheep. There are plenty of National Trust spots and the South Downs to explore, and it’s handy for walks, Lewes, and Brighton.

We found some lovely Sussex walks and trails close by, which made the location a real plus. The cottage is a peaceful, well thought out little place to recharge. The kitchen has plenty of kit, the bedroom is comfortable and nicely designed, and the shower has great pressure. I’d happily recommend it for a luxury break in the South Downs national park.

Joy made us feel welcome and knew the local area well. The property was clean, cosy, and beautifully put together, and it’s a lovely base for dogs and their owners to explore.
