After a day in Harrogate, we stayed overnight at The George Country Inn and had a lovely time. The renovated rooms felt fresh and modern, with comfortable beds and a good power shower. The pub and restaurant were cosy, with modern decor and a warm, friendly buzz. Dinner was delicious: I had the salt and pepper prawns, then the seabass special with garlic prawns, potatoes, spinach and cauliflower purée. Both were beautiful dishes. I also enjoyed salted caramel ice cream, a glass of rosé and a glass of Malbec. After a good night’s sleep, breakfast was cooked to perfection: coffee, fruit juice, scrambled eggs, toast, black pudding and beans. Highly recommend staying and dining here; you won’t be disappointed.

The owner is fantastic and the team can’t do enough for you. The rooms, dining room and bar are spotless, and the food is amazing. The George is an amazing place to stay, and we highly recommend giving it a visit. You won’t be disappointed.

We came for Sunday lunch on the way home from Fountains Abbey. The steak and ale pie, roast pork and kids’ roast were all brilliant, with generous portions, and we enjoyed the desserts too. We’ll definitely come back to try something from the main menu. We didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t comment on the rooms, though the pub looked very well cared for and I’m sure they’d be lovely.

Our group of seven had a family meal here, and we brought our dog along too. The food was great quality and came in generous portions. The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. We’d certainly return when we’re next in the area and would highly recommend it. A big yes from our dog too for how dog-friendly the place is!

We had a lovely two-night stay and felt this was just what we needed. Paul and the staff were so friendly and attentive, and the place was comfortable, relaxing and welcoming. The room was beautiful, the bed comfortable and the shower fab. Breakfast was out of this world, with a great choice of freshly cooked, very tasty food. Paul, you’re an amazing chef.
